Founder and CEO, Kendra, calls Root Botanics the true definition of a passion project. Having always been a fan of the “cool, rustic-looking, soaps” she would find at farmers markets and in boutiques, she decided to look into the process of making her own. 

After lots of research and late night online purchases, she finally gathered her materials, strapped on her safety goggles, and made her first batch of cold process soaps. She was immediately hooked. 

Kendra truly believes that the process of making things by hand is a fantastic creative and therapeutic outlet, and also part of “getting rooted”; connecting with both the ancestors and the earth. Hence the “root” part of the name, “Root Botanics”.

Although never one for science or numbers in school, she found therapy in carefully researching ingredients, deliberately crafting and testing recipes, and turning them into an item that others could use to nourish and cleanse the largest organ of their body. Something to strip away the dirt of the day, and help them get down to their bare “roots”. 

As a lifelong animal lover and advocate, and vegetarian since 2012, both animals and ingredients are important to Kendra. As such, she vowed to ensure ingredients and processes used to make Root Botanics products are as natural as possible, eco-friendly, and ethically sourced, 100% of the time.

Our products and ingredients are never tested on animals, and animal products are locally sourced when possible. You can rest comfortably knowing our products keep both you, our furry friends, and our earth in mind.

In January 2023, Kendra decided she was ready to share her passion with the world. She got to work perfecting her recipes, nailing down her final products, and learning about the ever-confusing world of starting a business.

Kendra is excited to embark on this ongoing journey, and hopes that you all enjoy each and every one of the products offered at Root Botanics.
